Ranchi Zoo announces birth of two leopard cubsRanchi, Apr 28: Zoo authorities in Ranchi have announced the birth of two leopard cubs.

The cubs, one male and one female, were born on March 10 and are now being brought before the public.

"This leopard was brought from a rescue centre in Guwahati on November 8. In the last week of December, the mating took place and the cubs were born on March 10. Both cubs are healthy. It''s a matter of great pride for the zoo as it was after a long time a big cat gave birth in our zoo," said M. S. Jain, a veterinarian at the zoo.

45 fodder scam accused convicted, rigorous imprisonment for 14Ranchi, Apr 24 : A special Central Bureau of Investigation court on Friday convicted 45 accused and sentenced 14 of them to three years rigorous imprisonment in connection with the fodder scam case of early 1990's.

The court also slapped fines between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. five lakh on the 14 accused.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and the then Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad is also one of the accused in the Rs. 900 crore-scam.

According to police, the Naxals attacked the CRPF camp in West Singhbhum District.

The gunbattle between the militants and the security personnel is still on, official sources informed.

In Jharkhand, six Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed in a landmine blast in Latehar district.

According to police, Maoists detonated the landmine when the BSF personnel were travelling in a bus to a polling station near Aara village, about 140 km from the state capital. Later, Maoists ambushed the BSF bus.
