Rameswaram fishermen oppose Sethusamudram project

Rameswaram (TN), Sept 18: Fishermen in the coastal villages of Tamil Nadu’s Rameswaram District have opposed the Sethusamudram Ship Canal Project, claiming the livelihood of lakhs of fishermen is threatened by the project.
Fishermen say the ongoing work on the project is driving away fish, and fear that the ship traffic will only worsen things once the project is completed.

'Outrageous' Launched By Sherlyn Chopra

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Sherlyn Chopra launched her album 'Outrageous' here last evening.

While speaking to news-persons, she told, “Outrageous is an attitude. It will speak the language of the gen-next youth. It brings to fore the deep hidden desires that every human being harbours inside but refuses to acknowledge. The USP of my album is that it promotes an attitude of being born free. It's okay to break the rules and follow your heart.”

Sherlyn has herself composed and written lyrics of her album 'Outrageous --The End of the Beginning.'

Indian and British troops undergo joint training exercise in Ladakh

Srinagar, Sept 18: As part of the training co-operation between the British and the Indian armed forces, a company of UK Marines is being trained jointly with a company of Indian Army paratroopers in high altitude warfare in the Ladakh Himalayas.

The exercise that began on Monday, and codenamed Himalayan Warrior, "has been planned to focus on training in super high altitude areas."

The joint training is being conducted over a period of five-weeks around Leh.

PM Manmohan Singh to be discharged from AIIMS today

New Delhi, Sept 18: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who underwent a surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for benign enlargement of the prostate gland, will be discharged from the hospital today.

The Chairman of the Medical Expert Panel for the Prime Minister, Professor K. Srinath Reddy, on Monday said that Dr. Singh is "convalescing after his surgery and is doing well."

The surgery took place to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy of the prostate (benign enlargement of the prostate gland).

SC To Decide On Loan Pre-Payment Fee

New Delhi: The Supreme Court (SC) shall give its decision on whether or not banking institutions can charge a prepayment fee from customers who repay loans before the completion of the tenure.
