Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, Sridevi to get Padma honours

Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, Sridevi to get Padma honours New Delhi, Jan  26 : The civilian honours for the year 2013 have been announced and feature actors Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore and Sridevi, cricketer Rahul Dravid, boxer Mary Kom, industrialist Adi Godrej and comedian Jaspal Bhatti.

Khanna and Tagore were a hit Bollywood couple in the ''70s. He and Tagore, who starred together in movies like Aradhana and Amar Prem, will receive the Padma Bhushan, India''s third highest civilian award.

Khanna died on July 18, 2012 and will receive the award posthumously.

Dravid, Mary Kom, Adi Godrej and Jaspal Bhatti will also receive the Padma Bhushan.

Bhatti died last year and will also receive the award posthumously.

Sridevi, who made a searing movie comeback in English Vinglish last year, will receive the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award.

Sridevi said, "I am honored and humbled by this recognition. Would like to thank my fans for the love and faith they have always given me."

Other Padma Shri awardees are Ramesh Sippy, director of landmark Bollywood film Sholay, actor Nana Patekar, wrestler Yoheshwar Dutt, shooter Vijay Kumar and boxer Dingko Singh.

The selection committee this year included actress Ratna Pathak Shah, scientist Anil Kakodkar and home secretary R K Singh, among others. (ANI)
