Qantas-Emirates alliance will protect jobs, says JoyceAlan Joyce, the Chief Executive Officer of Qantas Airways has said that the proposed alliance with Emirates will help protect jobs at the struggling airline, assuring that no jobs will be lost as a result of the partnership.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is currently reviewing the proposal for the alliance. Joyce claimed that the deal has been welcomed by the staff members of the airline. He said that the alliance will allow the company to grow its struggling international operations in the coming years.

"What the Emirates partnership does for us to be honest is secure jobs in the medium to long term. It secures our operations into Europe to make them viable and allows us, as we said, to create a platform for us to grow going forward," he said

Mr Joyce claimed that he announcement of the proposed agreement was welcomes by the staff at Qantas' Mascot headquarters because they realize that it is important for securing jobs. Qantas and Emirates announced a global partnership spanning across an arrangement, reciprocal frequent-flyer benefits and joint marketing, pricing and coordination on certain routes.

The two companies are aiming to work together on flights between Australia and Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and New Zealand.
