Pregnant breast cancer patient demands treatment

Pregnant-breast-cancer-patientLead scientists of the German Breast Group have claimed that studies of breast cancer should not be procrastinated merely of the fact that the woman is pregnant.

According to the recent studies the effects of various treatment options on the infant, the scientist offered the recommendation.

"At the time we started the study in 2003, there was hardly any information on breast cancer therapy during pregnancy, but we felt there was a medical need for it," Sibylle Loibl, Dr. med, German Breast Group said.

According to the recent case of pregnancy in case of breast cancer patients which is minute approximately about 2 to 3 per cent, women further states of delayed childbirth until later in age, which might grows with the cancer cases among pregnant women, according to Loibl.

The researchers further spoke of the data that states that women diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant to see how the infants fared.

The findings released from April 2003 until June 2010, speaks of data which has been collected from 313 women, aged 23 to 47 years old. The women offer various subtypes of breast cancer, and the cancer was in various stages when diagnosed.

"We were surprised about the number of congenital malformations. It is about 1 to 3 per cent in the general population, but was higher in this cohort," Loibl said.
