State-run transmission company PowerGrid Corporation has announced its first quarter financial results for the fiscal year 2010-11. According to the statement released by the company, it has managed to register a significant profit-after-tax (PAT) during the reviewed quarter.

PowerGrid Corporation has posted profit-after-tax of Rs 703.18 crore for the quarter that ended in 30th June, 2010. That means the Q1 PAT at current year has gone up almost 28.64% of the profit-after-tax figure of the company in the similar quarter in the last fiscal year of 2009-10.

The company has registered a PAT of Rs 5, 46.61 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year. In a filing, the firm has informed this fact at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The total income of PowerGrid Corporation has gone up to Rs 2,149.69 crore during the three-month period of fiscal year 2010-11. PowerGrid Corporation's total income was Rs 1,814.33 crore for the similar April-June quarter in the preceding year.

There has been a hike of 18.48% in the total income figure in Q1 this year against its like period a year ago.
