Islamabad, Sep 9: PPP will not destabilize Nawaz’s government in Pak PunjabThe Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will not destabilise the government in Punjab, new President Asif Ali Zardari told a PML-N delegation led by Nawaz Sharif.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and seven other PML-N leaders accompanied Sharif to meet Zardari.

Zardari invited the PML-N to return to the coalition government in the Centre. Sharif declined the offer but assured Zardari of support, saying his party would be “a constructive opposition.”

Islamabad, Sep 8: Zardari, Sharif to meet in Islamabad todayPakistan’s newly elected Presidents Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will meet today in Islamabad after 32 days to exchange greetings.

Sharif will go to Islamabad to congratulate President elect Asif Ali Zardari which would be the first meeting between two leaders since August 7, when they had signed an agreement for restoring judges, The News reported.

Zardari has already invited Sharif to attend his oath-taking ceremony.

PPP denies hand in re-opening of corruption cases against NawazIslamabad, Sept 4 : The PPP has reportedly denied that it had ordered the reopening of corruption cases against PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif, who is Punjab Chief Minister.

Senior PPP leader and Pakistan Law Minister Farooq Naik last evening informed the Senate that he had summoned the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to find out who was responsible for reopening the cases against the PML-N leaders, reported the Daily Times.

PPP, PML-N again on warpath as NAB cases against Nawaz reopened

Islamabad, Sept 3 : The decades-old political rivalry between the PPP and PML-N has once again come to the fore, even as the federal law ministry has reopened three NAB (National Accountability Bureau) corruption cases against PML-N leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif.

The move assumes significance in Islamabad political circles as it has taken place within 10 days of the PML-N leaving the PPP-led coalition.

NAB prosecutor-general Dr Danishwar Malik filed a petition with the Court of Special Judge Central last evening and the first hearing is expected to take place tomorrow.

The NAB comes under the purview of the federal law ministry.
