Nawaz says Pak govt will lose public support if US air attacks continuedIslamabad, Nov 2 : Former Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif has said that the Pakistani government would lose public support if the US missile attacks on Pakistani soil continued.

In a written statement issued here last evening, he said that the government should initiate strategic dialogue with the United States instead of just protesting over the continued violations of the country’s territory by the US.

In a petition filed by Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey, Dr Shamshad Akhtar’s appointment as the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan has also been challenged.

Former president Pervez Musharraf and the State Bank governor have been made respondents in the case apart from 10 government officials.

PML-N chief and former Pakistani premier Nawaz SharifLahore, Oct 27: PML-N chief and former Pakistani premier Nawaz Sharif has said that the Kashmir issue would have been resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people “if the PML-N government had not been toppled by the former army chief Pervez Musharraf on October 12, 1999”.

The former premier said his government was dislodged under a planned conspiracy at a time when the resolution of the Kashmir dispute was near, reported the Daily Times.

London, Oct 23 : Top Pakistan Opposition leaders have said that the country was heading towards its worst ever crisis, and with the renewed insurgency it was “on the edge”.

“Pakistan is going through the worst crisis of its history,” said to a leaked letter signed by the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, the main opposition leader in Pakistan.

A similar view is shared by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, another opposition leader, who says that the political and economic meltdown "is leading to a sort of anarchy in Pakistan". “How does a country collapse?” the former cricketer asked.

He said, “the new government had “legitimized” some of the former government’s policies instead of reversing them”, and added that the prevalent crises in the country could have been resolved if President Asif Zardari had honoured his commitments with the PML-N.
