Kerry says Pak is in a moment of perilWashington, Apr 22 : US Senator John Kerry has said that the Obama Administration’s plan for Pakistan “is not a real strategy.”

“Pakistan is in a moment of peril. And I believe there is not in place yet an adequate policy or plan to deal with it,” Kerry, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said.

Kerry advised the Obama Administration to stop using the term “Af-Pak”, to describe a unified strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, because “I think it does a disservice to both countries and to the policy.”

Senator Kerry, who is in Islamabad to discuss the proposed aid package, said that the provisions attached with US aid package to Pakistan were only meant to improve the `effectiveness of aid'.

Officials privy to the talks between Kerry and Gilani were quoted by the Dawn as saying that the Pakistan Prime Minister had told Senator Kerry that Pakistan does not want the US to base its aid on conditions linked to the campaign against militancy.
