Italian PM resigns amid much bickering

Enrico-LettaRome, Feb 14 : Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta submitted his resignation Friday after 10 months as the head of two bickering Left-right coalitions.

Before tendering his resignation to President Giorgio Napolitano, Letta thanked those who had "helped me" amid constant sniping where "every day seemed my last", ANSA reported.

Napolitano is expected to give the mandate for the formation of a new government to the leader of Letta's Democratic Party, Mayor of Florence Matteo Renzi.

US, Italy to raise economic cooperationWashington, Oct 18 - US President Barack Obama and Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta have agreed to enhance their countries' bilateral economic cooperation and strengthen the economic partnership between the US and the European Union (EU), Xinhua reported Thursday.

The two leaders met at the White House Thursday, the first day the federal government reopened.
