C.P. Joshi, Kapil Sibal replace ministers who quit

Kapil-Sibal-CP-JpshiNew Delhi, May 11 : C. P. Joshi has been given additional charge of the railway ministry, while Kapil Sibal has got the additional charge of the law and justice ministry, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said Saturday.

Pawan Kuamr Bansal and Ashwani Kumar had resigned from the respective posts Friday night. President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the resignations, the communique added.

Joshi is presently the surface transport minister and had earlier held the additional charge of railway ministry when Mukul Roy quit after Trinamool Congress left the UPA- II government.

C.P.Joshi humbles Lalit Modi in Rajasthan Cricket Association electionJaipur, Dec. 7 : Jubilation erupted in the camp of C P Joshi, Union Minister of Panchayat Raj after he was elected as the President of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) in Jaipur on Monday.

Joshi defeated the powerful Lalit Modi of IPL (Indian Premier League) fame in the elections to head the State''s cricket apex body.

Joshi polled 19 votes in his favour as against the 13 secured by Modi.

C. P. JoshiJaipur, Dec 7 : Unruly scenes were witnessed at Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections here Monday as supporters of former president Lalit Modi and union minister C. P. Joshi clashed with each other.

The elections for the president's post have become a talking point as it is a straight fight between Modi, who is the Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner and cricket board vice-president, and union rural development minister Joshi.

It is the first time in the history of RCA that a leader of the stature of Joshi is fighting for the top post.

Joshi and Modi to head for RCA

CPJoshiUnion Minister, Mr. C P Joshi and IPL commissioner, Mr. Lalit Modi, both have filed their nomination papers for the post of Rajasthan Cricket Association's president, for which elections will be conducted on December 7.

According to the directions of the Supreme Court the elections for the RCA will be held under the observation of retired Justice Mr. N M Kasliwal.

This is the second time in the same year when the RCA is conducting elections, as Sanjay Dixit, who had defeated Modi in the previous election in March, was not able to carry on as the head, and after a lot of persuasion the state government had formed an ad-hoc body till the elections.

National Rural Employment Guarantee ActThe government’s first ever meet with regional parties on its flagship rural job scheme — National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) — on Tuesday turned out to be a flop show.

Out of the 43 regional parties invited, leaders of only seven groups attended the meeting chaired by Union Rural Development Minister CP Joshi.

Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan, Forward Bloc general secretary Debarata Biswas and Danish Ali of Janata Dal (Secular) were among those who skipped the meet.
