NYT rejects John McCain’s opinion piece after running Barack Obama’s editorial

London, John McCain and Barack ObamaJuly 22: The New York Times has rejected an opinion piece on Iraq by Republican presidential candidate John McCain, less than a week after publishing a similar article by his Democratic rival Barack Obama.

David Shipley, the op-ed page editor of America’s most prestigious paper asked McCain to rewrite his piece, a move likely to revive allegations of bias in the media towards Obama, The Telegraph reported.

One-hour chat with Merkel scheduled during Obama Berlin visit

Both will appear for a photo call but will not answer questions
from the media after the Thursday meeting, deputy government spokesman
Thomas Steg told reporters.

Steg said she would brief him on closer US-German business ties and hoped to have a "very frank, comprehensive" talk.

"Ultimately it's about them getting to know one another," he said.
