Pak believes peace efforts with India will survive outcome of elections

Salman-BashirIslamabad, Dec 03 : Pakistan's outgoing envoy to India Salman Bashir has said he saw "light at the end of the tunnel" in diplomatic relations with India and believed that the improvement would survive next year's elections.

Some observers have predicted ties between the rival nations could hit a low, if Narendra Modi emerges as prime minister of India after May elections, the Daily Times reports.

Modi has been an outspoken critic of Pakistan and has accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of not being tough enough towards Islamabad.

Meanwhile, Bashir sounded optimistic on moving an upward trajectory in relations between the two South Asian neighbors in the coming months.

Bashir said that peace has returned to the Kashmir border after several incidents earlier in the year and both sides were committed to improving ties. (ANI)
