Oz eves eyeing Ashes glory following record-breaking WC winSydney, Feb 21 : Australia''s champion women''s cricketers have turned their attention to defending their Ashes title after returning home with a record-breaking sixth World Cup. The youthful squad touched down at airports across the country today, with Ellyse Perry, Alex Blackwell, Rachael Haynes, Sarah Coyte and Erin Osborne arriving at Sydney airport, News. com. au reports.

The Southern Stars won their sixth World Cup with an imposing 114-run victory over the West Indies in the final in Mumbai early on Monday. The Southern Stars'' next assignment is the tour to England in August, where they will attempt to successfully defend the Women''s Ashes title for the first time since winning six straight series from 1984-2003.

Perry is looking forward to the tour, particularly as the men''s team will be there for support as well. Perry said it''s a really special tour and its something she would like to be part of, adding it would be nice to defend the title, and that is probably what they as a squad have our eye on next.
