Nearly 600,000 vehicles recalled by Chrysler

Nearly 600,000 vehicles recalled by ChryslerIt would recall nearly 600,000 Jeep Wrangler, Town & Country and Grand Caravans on problems with brakes and sliding doors, U. S. automaker Chrysler said on Monday.

288,968 Jeep Wranglers from model years 2006 through 2010 would be recalled because potential contact between fender liners and front brake tubes could cause brake fluid to leak resulting in "partial loss of service brakes," which could result in a crash, Chrysler has said.

It has also been reported that Chrysler is recalling 284,831 Dodge Grand Caravans from model years 2008 and 2009 and some 2007 Chrysler Town & Country vehicles due to an improperly routed wire harness that could cause a short circuit, and potentially a fire, inside the sliding doors.

The report further noted that last week Chrysler recalled 25,336 Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass vehicles due to a problem with accelerator pedals manufactured by CTS Corp., the same supplier that made accelerator parts for Toyota Motor Corp., which recalled millions of vehicles to correct the problem.
