Murthy stepping downThe big news doing the rounds is that IT major Infosys Technologies founder N R Narayana Murthy has resigned as the director of NDTV with immediate effect.

NDTV has informed the market that Murthy has articulated his inability to persist on its board because of his other commitments.

In a disclosure to stock exchange, NDTV said: “In view of increasing pressure on his time and due to his commitments within and outside Infosys, N R Narayana Murthy has expressed his inability to continue as a director on the board of Directors of the company with immediate effect.”

The filing, however, also added that Murthy will act as a mentor for the media firm.  

63-year-old Murthy was acting as the Non-Executive Independent Director of the company. He had joined NDTV in 1994.  

Apart from being the non-executive chairman of the Infosys board, Murthy also serves companies like Unilever, HSBC Bank, DBS Bank.
