Miliband rapped for “terrorism can be a good thing at times” remarks

David MilibandLondon, Aug 17 : British Foreign Secretary David Miliband has been rapped for his suggestion that terrorism can be a good thing at times.

According to reports, Miliband had said that violent action or terrorism may be justifiable in some cases, in a tribute to African National Congress’s armed struggle in South Africa.

“Yes, there are circumstances in which it is justifiable, and yes, there are circumstances in which it is effective,” Miliband had said.

Miliband was also slammed by the Tories for making the suggestion at a time when British troops were fighting insurgents in Afghanistan. He was also accused of aiding the Taliban with his remarks.

“When so much of the efforts of our security services and the sacrifices of our troops in Afghanistan are devoted to defeating terrorists, this is hardly the time to argue that terrorism is sometimes acceptable,” The Daily Star quoted William Hague, Shadow Foreign Secretary, as saying. (ANI)
