Mercedes' new trumpet exhaust for louder engine sound test fails

Nico-RosbergLondon, May 15 : Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that the new trumpet exhaust that his team tested on Wednesday in Barcelona, to see if they could manage louder exhaust, did not work

Mercedes had reportedly volunteered to design and test the new, louder exhaust after supporters complained that the new turbo hybrid engines are too quiet.

According to the BBC, Rosberg said that the new design did not make the exhaust much louder so they will just have to look for another solution.

The German added that they tried the new exhaust because as a team the want to do good for the Formula One racing, but it did not prove to be a great solution and it just did not work.

Mercedes reportedly tried out the new design at a test at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona during which Rosberg did a handful of laps with the exhaust extension in the first hour of running before switching to a conventional exhaust.

The results would be analyzed by Formula One's governing body the FIA and then discussed with the other teams, the report added. (ANI)
