Kroger Company recalls spices due to possible Salmonella Contamination

Owing to possible salmonella contamination, the Kroger Company is recalling different species including Kroger Ground Cinnamon, Kroger Garlic Powder, Kroger Coarse Ground Black Pepper and Kroger Bac'n Buds, which have been sold in retail stores.

The FDA tested a sample of Kroger Garlic Powder from a store in North Augusta, South Carolina and it was found to be contaminated with salmonella. For now, no illness case has been reported with regard to the spices.

As a preventative measure, the company has been recalling four seasonings. The company has removed the products from store shelves and also has started customer recall notification system. Through the system, customers will be able to know if they have purchased the recalled product through register receipt tape messages and phone calls.

Kroger spokesperson John Lambert said that the potentially affected products have been removed from the shelves. Places where recall is active include Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Michigan, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, West Virginia, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana.

The products were sold in the 31 states, where the company works. The company has stated that customers can clear query by contacting at 1-800-576-4377. As per experts, salmonella leads to one million illnesses in America every year. ITs symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps. The symptoms can develop 12 to 72 hours after infection and the illness lasts 4 to 7 days. In some cases, the symptoms could be severe and lead to hospitalization.
