Kejriwal and some of his associates detained near PM residence

Kejriwal and some of his associates detained near PM residenceThe Delhi Police took anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal and some of his associates under arrest on Friday afternoon, as they were marching to the Prime Minister's 7 Race Course Road residence demanding the arrest of Law Minister Salman Khurshid.

Kejriwal, the activist turned politician who is yet to name his recently launched political party, alleged that an NGO called Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust headed by Khurshid and his wife embezzled lakhs of rupees meant for physically challenged people.

Both Law Minister Salman Khurshid and his wife Louis denied the allegations.

Kejriwal threatened that the protest would continue for an indefinite period, and that he would drag Khurshid to court.

In response, the law minister lashed out at Kejriwal, describing the activist as a man with burning ambition, and added that he should know that his free ride was over.

In an email response, Khurshid said, "Kejriwal is a man possessed not with any noble idea but burning ambition for which he will destroy whatever is in his path. But he should know that the free ride is over."

The union law minister also alleged that the spontaneity with which Kejriwal reacted hinted that he didn't even read the documents, and that there was a prior contact between him and new channel Aaj Tak, which had aired the sting operation that exposed the alleged scam at the NGO.
