I am sceptical about the outcome of meeting with Qureshi: KrishnaNew York, Sep 23 : External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on Wednesday said he is sceptical about the outcome of his meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the absence of Pakistan acting against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks.

Krishna is scheduled to meet Qureshi on Sunday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Krishna also asked the US to be more circumspect in providing aid to Pakistan.

He said only sincerity and seriousness on the part of Pakistan would provide a sound backdrop for a meaningful dialogue.

Earlier, in an interview to a private television channel Krishna said unless the Pakistan Government shows seriousness and sincerity in going after the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks, an atmosphere of trust cannot be created between the two countries.

Krishna said the atmosphere of trust is not prevailing between India and Pakistan to proceed with a meaningful dialogue and added that everything depended on what Pakistan does between now and when the two foreign ministers meet.

Raising India’s concern over the use of US funds against it by the Pakistani administration Krishna said, it will be his endeavour to impress upon U S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that Washington needs to be circumspect in aid provided to Islamabad.

On Wednesday, Krishna met his Sri Lankan counterpart Rohitha Bogollagama and discussed the issue of resettlement of over three lakh internally displaced people in that country.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Krishna said the discussion was primarily focused on the settlement of displaced people and said that Bogollagama informed him that the process of de-mining is going on and simultaneously the resettlement also is being done. (ANI)
