Huawei controls UK's pornography filtering system

Huawei controls UK's pornography filtering systemIt is known that the Chinese company Huawei controls a pornography filtering system for the internet, which was recently raised by the British Prime Minister, David Cameron.

As the filtering system is controlled by UK-based employees of Huawe, they can decide as to which sites are to blocked by TalkTalk's net filtering service. Government officials in the US and the UK and some other countries have repeatedly expressed concerns over the possibility of the Huawei working covertly for the Chinese communist government. The company has dismissed these concerns saying that they are without foundation and prejudiced.

The Prime Minister of the UK has said that it has shown great leadership in setting up its Homesafe system for filtering. The system has been offered to the consumers since 2011. TalkTalk has expressed confidence that its relationship is Huawei is appropriate and that the service is becoming very popular.

Homesafe is a voluntary scheme allowing poeple to block social media, gambling and pornography from their systems. Customers choosing not to filter sites are routed through the system but matches to the Huawei's database are dismissed and not blocked.
