Heroin worth rupees 45 million seized in CoimbatoreCoimbatore, Sept 29 : Police here seized heroin worth rupees 45 million in the international market.

According to the police official, the heroin was brought from Andhra Pradesh’s Nagri district to Coimbatore.

"We found that two persons named Loganathan and Thangraj were moving under suspicion. We apprehended them for further interrogation. We found five packets of 4.5 kilograms of heroin worth Rs. 45 million). After further investigation, we will be able to ascertain the origin and the group involved. After chemical examination, we will come to know about the purity of this heroin drug, " said Ramaswamy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Narcotic Intelligence Bureau (NIB)-Criminal Investigation Department
(CID).

Heroin is derived from morphine, a naturally occurring substance extracted from the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant. Heroin usually appears as a white or brown powder. (ANI)
