Google to release Android Ice Cream Sandwich by NovemberEric Schmidt, Google's executive chairman has confirmed reports that the new version of the company's Android mobile phone OS, dubbed the Ice Cream Sandwich version will be released by November this year.

While speaking in an interview with SalesForce. com CEO Marc Benioff at the Dreamforce conference, Mr. Schmidt infused excitement in the Android world when he confirmed the release while answering to a question about HTMLl 5.

Schmidt said: "We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October or November, which everyone's really excited about."

The new Ice Cream Sandwich will address the segregation and fragmentation issues in the open source Android platform. It is designed to work on both Smartphones and tablets. The new version was announced at Google conference in May.

The first deivce with the new version is expected to be Google's own Nexus Prime smartphone, which is expected to be launched by the end of this year. It will be manufactured by South Korean giant, Samsung.
