Haryana A lead team standings, Rashid top individualKolkata, Dec 17 :Abhinav Lohan and Manav Das, representing Haryana A, returned the best cards of the day to join overnight leaders Delhi A on top of the team standings after the third round of the LG West Bengal Inter-State Championship being played at the par-72 Royal Calcutta Golf Club.

Lohan and Manav returned cards of two-under 70 to help their team total four-under for the day. With a tournament total of three-over, they were tied for the lead with the team of Gagan Verma and Rashid Khan who carded rounds of 74 and 72 respectively.

Rashid KhanKolkata, Dec 16 : Led by a round of two-under 70 from Rashid Khan, the Delhi 'A' team extended their lead on top of the team standings after the second round of the LG West Bengal Inter-State Championship being played at the par-72 Royal Calcutta Golf Club here Wednesday.

Gagan Verma (72,76) also had a good round and with a two day total of one-over 289, the Delhi A team took a three-shot edge over the Uttar Pradesh A team which is represented by Jasjeet Singh (73,73) and Rahul Bajaj (72,74).

The team of Abhinav Lohan (75,73) and Manav Das (76,71), playing for Haryana A, moved up to third place.    

PGTI to start second-division golf tour

PGTI to start second-division golf tour New Delhi, Dec 15 : To ease the burden from the elite Tour, the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) is going to start a second-division Tour from the next season.

At present PGTI has only one Tour and it sees participation of nearly 320 golfers. From the next season, PGTI will have Two tours -- A, the elite, and the second division B.

PGTI Director Padamjit Sandhu said Tuesday that top-100 golfers will participate in the A Tour while the remaining will be in the B.

US Tour to co-sanction $6 million event with Asian Tour Kuala Lumpur, Dec 7 : After the European and Japan Tours, it is now time for the US to recognise the power of Asian golf. In a historic move, the US PGA has signed a deal with the Asian Tour to stage a new event.

To be called the the Asia Pacific Golf Classic, the event is planned to be held at the Mines Resort & Golf Club south of Kuala Lumpur. The dates, yet to be announced, is likely to be towards the end of 2010.

The event will carry $6 million as the purse, with the winner getting $1 million.

Patel, who hails from Bhopal, fired a two under 68 to be placed at the top of the leaderboard with birdies on the first, eighth, 13th and 16th holes while he bogeyed the 11th and 18th.

Gast Ram of Delhi was placed second at even par-70, with Kapil Kumar, Ajay Baisoya, Sudhir Sharma, Kaka Kohli, Arjun Lall, Mohd. Yamin and Kuldeep Singh tied third at one over 71.
