Amnesty International criticizes India's new anti-terrorism laws

Amnesty International LogoNew Delhi - Human rights group Amnesty International Friday criticized India's proposed anti-terror laws saying they violate international human rights treaties.

The new legislation has been approved by the Indian Parliament and now requires President Pratibha Patil's approval before becoming law.

The Indian government had rushed the proposed National Investigating Agency Bill and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill through parliament after the terrorist attacks on Mumbai in November left more than 170 dead.

Rummenigge: Ribery not for sale but Podolski hopefully soon

Bayern Munich LogoMunich - Franck Ribery is not for sale but a move involving Lukas Podolski will hopefully be finalized within the next weeks, according to the chairman of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Rummenigge told Friday's edition of the Bild daily that Munich will not release their French star Ribery from his contract until 2011 and instead want to keep him even longer.

"I can promise that 100 per cent to all Bayern fans and all friends of attractive football. No offer, no sum will stop us," Rummenigge said.

The administrator should be an independent authority and modeled like the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). INMAC is a Chennai-based tele-information service provider known for phone directory search service 'Call Ezee', which is available across 14 cites in India. It is 24x7 tele-information provider that handles about 10,000 calls per day and provides 24-hour helpline for medical emergencies.

US Steel puts Serbian production in standby mode

US Steel LogoBelgrade - Pressed by the global crisis and falling demand, the American giant US Steel would within "consolidation plans" suspend production in Serbia for at least three months in order to save money, a spokesman said Friday.

US Steel Serbia, launched with the purchase of a bankrupted Serbian mill in 2003, already turned off one blast furnace and was set to shut down the other, spokesman Nemanja Brkovic told the Serbian television RTS.

IOC opens bid process for 2014 Youth Olympics

IOC opens bid process for 2014 Youth Olympics Lausanne, Switzerland - The bidding process for the 2014 Youth Olympics opened on Friday, the International Olympic Committee said.

The IOC said in a statement that interested cities have February 9, 2009, to formally bid for the event bringing together around 3,500 athletes aged 14-18 in the Olympic summer sports.

Bid files have to be submitted by July 2009, a shortlist will be set up in October and the host city elected by the IOC in February 2010.
