Firefox Disables Microsoft's Add-on and plug-ins

Firefox Disables Microsoft's Add-on and plug-insFirefox has found a big security hole in the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant and Windows Presentation Foundation add-ons and decided to block Microsoft's add-on and plug-in to avoid any possible threat of attack.

Microsoft automatically installed a pair of components for Windows users of the Firefox Web browser without their permission few months earlier.

But the plug-in would be no longer available from now onwards as Mozilla will disable them over security threats. Mike Shaver, Mozilla's Vice President of engineering, said that the step is taken as most of the users do not know how to manually uninstall them.

Shaver wrote in a post on the official Mozilla blog, “We contacted Microsoft today to indicate that we were looking to disable the extension and plugin for all users via our blacklisting mechanism. Microsoft agreed with the plan, and we put the blacklist entry live immediately."

Microsoft, on the other hand, said that adequate security measures are made for all browsers and they are safe from any attack. But Mozilla did not find them adequate and decided to disable these updates from the platform.
