FDA gives Green Signal to Double-Chin Treatment

A new revolutionary new treatment to remove double chins has sought an approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Both men and women in the United States face issues due to double chin.

Dermatologists tested the efficacy of the drug, known simply as ATX-101, to demand its approval from the FDA. Dr. Susan Weinkle, of Bradenton, in the Tampa Bay, Florida area, said after conducting the clinical trials that the treatment was found to be safe and amazingly effective. The approval of the drug means that double chin patients can get access to an alternative to other cosmetic treatments that are currently available, but are not safe and pose threat of bad side effects.

However, the approval from the FDA is a provisional one as the final approval will be granted only after assessing the pending clinical trial results. The drug is touted to be easy to administer and reduces extra fat just after a few sessions.

The drug works by killing the fat cells around the injection site. Dr. Weinkle said once the fat cells are gone, they never come back. The fat cell dissolves before getting reabsorbed and are finally excreted.

Dr. Weinkle also said that the treatment would be available for very affordable prices compared to other options available, like surgery.

“It’s really the first in class, we don’t have anything in our toolbox similar, we have nothing that we can inject that’s FDA approved, safe, and effective that can decrease excess fat”, she added.

A patient who underwent the treatment, said that the treatment is a straightforward injection. It does not cause any pain and he will possibly feel happier about himself after getting it done, he said.
