The vice chairman of Etisalat DB Telecom Pvt., Shahid Balwa is being scrutinized and has been put under arrest by the federal investigating agency in India because of his alleged connection in the 2G spectrum scam. This has rocked the whole sector and has also led to the detention of the ex-minister, A Raja.

Balwa was arrested by the CBI on Tuesday. The information was given by the agency's spokeswoman, Binita Thakur during a telephonic interview. One must remember that the detention of Balwa comes in just within almost a week of A Raja getting arrested.

Besides taking care of the telecom unit, Balwa is also the MD of DB Realty Ltd., a Mumbai-based property developer. No comments from the realty company were made.

On the other hand, the investigating agency in it argument given to the court has said that Raja in his conspiracy had benefited companies like Swan Telecom Ltd., now known as Etisalat DB Telecom, and Unitech Ltd. For doing that he had to violate the guidelines that were set up for the license sale. Now, CBI had been given two more days for quizzing Raja.
