England won''t suffer from Ashes hangover like in 2005: Pietersen

England won''t suffer from Ashes hangover like in 2005: PietersenJohannesburg, Nov 13 : England batsman Kevin Pietersen has said the team would never let victory take over them like it did post-2005 Ashes.

The 2005 success turned out to be the final highlight for members of that team, as injury and poor results took hold.

“Having spoken to the captain and coach, I believe everybody is making strides in the right direction and not following the same pattern as post-2005 Ashes. We want to capitalise on an Ashes victory and not go downhill fast,” The Mirror quoted Pietersen, as saying.

“Injuries are a huge part of that because after 2005 we lost a lot of key players which people seem to forget about. Hopefully this time we can get everybody fit and go into this full strength,” he added.

Pietersen further said he did not celebrate this year’s Ashes victory as he did four years ago due to his injury, but admitted that he did walk around The Oval with teammates to enjoy the moment.

“On the day England won the Ashes, I walked around the ground. The 2005 win was such a blur, I couldn''t remember it. So, I really wanted to take everything in this time and just really enjoy it,” he said. (ANI)
