Council on American-Islamic Relations released photos in imam's shooting death

slain-Imam-Luqman-Ameen-AbdullahPhotos, they say back their claims that slain Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah may have been attacked by an FBI dog, were released by American-Islamic leaders on Wednesday.

The Detroit News has reported that the Council on American-Islamic Relations Michigan office said the photos it obtained from the medical examiner show evidence not included in official reports of the Oct. 28 shooting death of Abdullah by FBI agents. The official report lists the cause of Abdullah's injuries shown in the photos as inconclusive.

An independent probe of the shooting, which occurred during a raid, is demanded by CAIR. FBI officials have alleged Abdullah was involved in a stolen goods fencing ring.

Investigation of the shooting is yet to be completed by Dearborn police and U. S. Justice Department officials.

The FBI was unavailable for comment on Wednesday morning, the News said. In a 1980 incident Abdullah, then known as Christopher Thomas, reached for a gun and told a police officer, "It'll be you or me," the newspaper further reported.

It was also revealed by the News that it obtained the statement from interviews and records obtained under Michigan's Freedom of Information Act.

The reports further indicated that in that incident, Abdullah wrestled with the officer for control of the gun but was disarmed after a second officer arrived.

Abdullah was quoted as saying, "I should have killed him." (With Inputs from Agencies)
