Quant Capital to be Taken-over by Reliance Capital

reliance capitalReliance Capital, Anil Ambani Group's financial services division has confirmed its acquisition of brokerage and equity research firm Quant Capital, without disclosing the financial details of the deal. After the deal is successfully completed, Quant's operations would be merged with those of Reliance Equity International, which is a 100% Reliance Capital owned subsidiary.

Incorporated in December 2007, Quant Capital began operations in May 2008, and currently has a workforce of over 100 employees. Over the years, the firm has managed to make a significant presence in both the domestic and international institutional markets.

Reliance CapitalMumbai, Nov 27 : Financial services company Reliance Capital, part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), plans to acquire a majority stake in city-based brokerage and equity research firm Quant Capital.

"Reliance Capital proposes to take a majority equity stake in Quant Capital group," the company said in a regulatory statement Friday.

"Reliance Equity International (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Capital) and Quant Capital will integrate operations to achieve full benefits of cost optimisation and increased scale of operations," it added.

Financial services company Reliance Capital, part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, has reported a 44 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 109 crore for the quarter ended September 30, as compared to Rs 195.3 crore during the same quarter last year.

However, company’s total income has increased from Rs 671.41 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2008, up 1.47 per cent to Rs 681.32 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009.

RelianceAnil Ambani Group company Reliance Capital has posted a net profit after minority interest & share of profit of Rs 151.04 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 343.07 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008.

In addition, total income has also decreased from Rs 1514.40 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 to Rs 1469.25 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009.

Presently, Reliance Capital is setting up a Private Equity (PE) fund which will raise up to Rs 2,000 crore from the domestic market.
