Etihad-AirwaysMumbai: Gulf carrier Etihad Airways, which is under scrutiny from Singapore's fair trade watchdog on its 24 percent stake purchase in the Naresh Goyal-promoted Jet Airways, on Friday said it has already applied for anti-trust immunity in various jurisdictions, including in Singapore.

Etihad's clarification comes a day after media reports said the Competition Commission of Singapore had begun a scrutiny of the deal to probe any possible violation of its competition law.

Etihad Airways offers enhanced access to India

Etihad-AirwaysAbu Dhabi, June 2 : Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has announced a major expansion of its code-share agreement with India's Jet Airways.

The new arrangement offers travellers enhanced connections throughout India, and linking India with even more destinations worldwide.

The two airlines have obtained regulatory approval to code-share on 43 additional routes, bringing the total number of services in their agreement to 71.

Etihad named best Middle East airline

The prestigious accolade was one of three awards won by Etihad Airways at a special gala ceremony Sunday night in Dubai. The airline was also named the Middle East’s Leading Airline - First Class, and the Middle East’s Leading Cabin Crew.

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to celebrate excellence in travel and tourism, with industry professionals and travel consumers voting for the winners.

Etihad Airways now to fly to Jaipur

Etihad-AirwaysAbu Dhabi, April 2 : Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Wednesday commenced daily operations between Jaipur, the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan, and Abu Dhabi.

"The addition of the Jaipur service reinforces Etihad Airways' commitment to the Indian subcontinent,” Craig Thomas, Etihad Airways' regional general manager for Asia-Pacific North and the Indian subcontinent, said in a statement.

“We are confident that the new flights will continue the strong passenger growth between India and the UAE,” he added.

Etihad-Airways-airBalticAbu Dhabi, March 21 : Latvian flag carrier airBaltic has expanded its codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to include routes from Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich to Abu Dhabi and Riga.

Subject to government approvals, the newly added codeshare routes will see airBaltic and Etihad Airways offer 37 connecting return flights per week between Riga and Abu Dhabi, with both airlines placing their respective BT and EY flight codes on services to and from these cities, it was reported Friday.

Etihad Airways to increase Abu Dhabi-Moscow flights

Etihad-AirwaysAbu Dhabi, March 14 : Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will increase its Abu Dhabi-Moscow services from seven flights per week to double daily from June 1, and then to triple daily from Oct 1 this year.

The UAE flag carrier commenced operations to the Russian capital's Domodedovo airport in December 2008, and since then has carried more than 400,000 travellers.

In 2013 passenger, volumes rose 36 percent compared to 2012 levels, achieving double-digit growth for the fourth consecutive year.

Etihad, owned by the United Arab Emirates, shows countries including Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Cyprus, but not the Jewish state or its major cities.

According to news. com. au, the carrier, which partners with Virgin Australia, has also refused to transport any Israelis, who aren't allowed in the UAE.

In 2010, the carrier even began teaching its flight agents how to identify Israeli travellers by their "accents and traits."

This brings to seven the number of geographical regions that make up the airline's global sales structure.

The other regions include the United Arab Emirates, the Middle East, North Africa and Levant, Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific North and the Indian Subcontinent, and Asia Pacific South and Australasia.

UAE's Etihad, Spain's Air Europa in codeshare agreement

Etihad-Airways-Air-EuropaAbu Dhabi, Jan 20 : The United Arab Emirates' (UAE) flag carrier Etihad Airways and Spanish airline Air Europa have signed a codeshare agreement which will see both carriers significantly enhance access to and from Spain, the UAE and to destinations across the globe.

Under the terms of the agreement and subject to regulatory approvals, Air Europa plans to commence a three-times-a-week direct service between Madrid and Abu Dhabi in late 2014.

The new flights to Jaipur, which will commence on April 1, 2014, bring the total number of Indian cities served by Etihad Airways to 10, with existing routes including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram.

Etihad plane lands safely after Mayday call

Etihad-AirwaysBrisbane, Nov 21 : An Etihad Airways plane made an emergency landing at Brisbane Thursday after sending out a Mayday call, the airline said.

The Airbus A-330 carrying 175 passengers took off from Brisbane's international airport shortly after 2 p. m. en route Singapore. It turned back due to flight-deck instrument failure and landed at around 2.30 p. m. local time an Etihad Airways spokesman said.

"The flight crew followed the standard operational procedures, declared an emergency and made a precautionary landing," the spokesman said.

Jet Airways completes Rs.2,069-crore stake sale deal to Etihad

jet-airways-etihadNew Delhi, Nov 20 : Jet Airways Wednesday said it has completed 24 percent stake sale to Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad Airways for Rs. 2,069 crore.

Jet Airways said in a statement that "both airlines closed the transaction for the subscription of a 24 percent equity stake by Etihad Airways in Jet Airways".

"All requisite Indian regulatory approvals had been obtained by Nov 12, 2013. Jet Airways has, on Nov 20, 2013, issued and allotted 27,263,372 equity shares of a face value of Rs. 10 each at a price of Rs. 754.7361607 per equity share on a preferential basis to Etihad Airways," the statement said.

Etihad Airways to double Abu Dhabi-Munich flights

Etihad-AirwaysAbu Dhabi, Nov 15 : Etihad Airways will increase its Abu Dhabi-Munich services from seven flights per week to a double daily schedule from 1 February 2014.

Munich was Etihad Airways' first destination in Germany, and a daily flight linking the Bavarian capital with Etihad Airways' Abu Dhabi hub commenced in June 2004.

Since then, the airline has carried over one million passengers between the two cities.

Madina, the regional capital of the western Saudi Arabian province of Al-Madina al Munawarah, is the second holiest city in Islam after the holy city of Makkah.

"We are delighted to announce the introduction of Madinah to the Etihad Airways' global flight network,” James Hogan, Etihad Airways' president and chief executive officer, was quoted Thursday as saying.

Etihad-AirwaysAbu Dhabi, Oct 30 : Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is set to transform in-flight entertainment options with the introduction of eight live television channels which will telecast live news and sports, including this weekend's Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

While BBC World News, BBC Arabic, euronews and Sport 24 will be available from Nov 1, three more channels - CNBC, Japan's NHK World Premium, and CNN - will be introduced later in the month.

Sky News Arabia will follow in the coming months.

SC to hear PIL challenging Jet-Etihad deal on Oct. 8Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s plea challenging the Jet-Etihad deal will be heard by the Supreme Court on October 8.

A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice P. Sathasivam fixed the date for the PIL hearing after Swamy stressed that the matter needed urgent hearing as the Government’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has already approved the deal.
