GSM players add 48.5 lakh users in July: COAINew Delhi: GSM based telecom players added 48.5 lakh new subscribers in July to take the total user base to 74.44 crore, industry body COAI said Thursday.

The GSM subscriber base stood at 73.95 crore at the end of June 2014, the Cellular Association of India (COAI) said.

COAI, which represents telecom players like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular, said the data does not include GSM subscriber number of Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices.

Reliance Jio Infocomm had also joined the body recently.

Bharti Airtel, Uninor top GSM user additions in May: COAI

Bharti-Airtel-UninorNew Delhi: Bharti Airtel and Uninor led subscriber additions in May, when the GSM base in the country grew marginally to 73.3 crore with 61.9 lakh new mobile users, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said on Tuesday.

There were 72.68 crore GSM users at the end of April, the COAI said.

Bharti Airtel, the country's largest operator, added the most users, with 16.5 lakh users joining its network. Its total number of subscribers stood at 20.82 crore, with a market share of 28.41 percent, at the end of May.

GSM-rural-subscribersNew Delhi, Feb 22 : All India rural GSM subscribers increased 4.14 million in January 2014, which was 1.5 percent up from previous month, according to data released by the Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) here Saturday.

All India GSM Rural subscriber figures as of January 2014 stood at 285.35 million.

Telecom service provider Airtel has the maximum rural subscription at 91.40 million in January 2014 followed by Vodafone, Idea, Aircel and Telewings.

GSM subscribers at 688 million in November: COAINew Delhi, Dec 16 : The all-India total of GSM cellular subscribers stood at 688.02 million in November, data released here by Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) said Monday.

The GSM subscribers increased by 4.87 million in November 2013 -- a 0.71 percent increase over the previous month.

Telecommunications service provider Bharti Airtel has the highest number of subscribers with 196.60 million. It was followed by Vodafone, Idea Cellular and BSNL, respectively.(IANS)

GSM users up by 1.78 million in Aug: COAINew Delhi, Sep 17 : The GSM subscribers increased by 1.78 million in August, which is an increase of 0.26 percent from the previous month, data released by Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) said here Tuesday.

Total number of GSM subscribers as of August 2013 was at 674.41 million. Bharti Airtel has maximum subscribers with 192.22 million users.

However, Vodafone lost over 85,000 users and its base shrunk to 154.3 million, it added.

GSM subscribers up by 3.51 million

GSM-subscribersNew Delhi, May 15 : The total number of GSM subscribers in April 2013 stood at 664.45 million, up by 3.51 million, according to data released by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) Wednesday.

Bharti Airtel clinched the top position with 188.80 million subscribers after adding 601,252 new customers in April, followed by Vodafone India with 153.78 million subscribers up by 1.42 million. Idea Cellular gained 1.28 million new customers in April.
