CII team to meet Indonesian leaders, captains of industryNew Delhi, Aug. 3 : The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with the support of Embassy of India, Jakarta, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is organizing the "Made in India" (MII) exhibition from 7 to 10 August 2009 at Balai Kartini Exhibition Centre, Jakarta, Indonesia.

The MII will be inaugurated on August 7 (Friday) by Indonesia''s Industry Minister Fahmi Idris and Jyotiraditya Scindia, India''s Minister of State for Commerce and Industry.

The first major show by any Indian organization in Indonesia, the Made in India show, Jakarta, has the participation of over 50 companies representing many sectors including automobiles, garage equipment, auto components, earthmoving and construction equipment, IT and communication, mining and railway equipment, food processing, packaging and pharma. `Soft' services such as travel and tourism, fashion, gems and jewellery, and handicrafts will also be on display.

Indonesia is India's third largest trading partner among ASEAN members, and a leading investor in India, making it one of India's most important economic partners in the Southeast Asia region. It offers excellent business prospects for Indian businesses in various sectors including information and telecommunications technology, automobiles, infrastructure, health, steel, tourism and pharmaceuticals, to name a few.

Bilateral trade between India and Indonesia reached US$ 6.98 billion in 2007-08 and is expected to have touched US$10 billion in 2008-09.

In April-Feb 2008-09, exports to Indonesia grew by 22% to reach $2.1 billion, and the country was placed 21st in India's export destinations. Indonesia ranked 16th as a source of imports at US $ 6.1 billion, a growth of 38% over the previous year. Indian investments in Indonesia are at an impressive US$ 2 billion.

Coinciding with the "Made in India Show" , there will be a 15-member high-level CII business delegation led by Mr Rajive Kaul, Past President CII and Chairman, NICCO Corporation.

The delegation will have meetings with several senior Ministers and officials in the Indonesian Government; board members of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN); and the ASEAN Secretariat which is based in Jakarta.

Other than the Made in India, CII will also be organizing a seminar titled "India-Indonesia the Road Ahead : Opportunities in India" and an "India Evening" with Indian cultural performances as well as a food festival.

According to CII Director General, Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, "CII would like to see more Indonesian business come to India for investments in areas such as infrastructure, oil and gas, tourism etc. CII will be placing special focus on Indonesia in the coming months and years and this Show is just the starting point for the many events that we are planning."

The Made in India (MII) series of shows are an initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry and are organized in close cooperation with the Government of India to promote "Brand India" and Indian industries, technology, and handicrafts in overseas markets. CII has successfully organized Made in India (MII) events since 1995 in Afghanistan, China, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, UK, Uganda etc. (ANI)
