Centre announces cotton exports at 55 lakh bales The Centre has declared the maximum limit for the export of cotton to outside. In a statement, the government has said that maximum of 55 lakh bales of cotton will be allowed to export. This rule will be effective from
1st of October this year.

The Centre has also added that it would like to revisit the current policy structure of this particular commodity. By the mid of November, the policy makers will have a thorough review of the policies once again.

They will decide over several issues like shipments and export duty etc. Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar has informed this fact to the media in a statement.

In the press conference, Mr. Khullar has estimated that the country may produce 325 lakh bales of cotton in the year 2010-11 which cost is expected to touch high as well.

On the other hand, the Agriculture Ministry has predicted that this year’s cotton production may touch the figure of335 lakh bales. The Centre has decided to go for such restriction of 55 lakh bales to satisfy the domestic demand of the market.
