BlackBerry restructures top positions in company

BlackBerryWashington, Nov. 26  : BlackBerry has reportedly announced changes to the top positions in the company, now led by CEO John Chen, in a bid to revive it from the losses.

Some of the key changes to BlackBerry's c-suite include ouster Chief Operating Officer Kristian Tear and Chief Marketing Officer Frank Boulben and the appointment of James Yersh as CFO, replacing Brian Bidulka.

Chen thanked Kristian and Frank for their efforts on behalf of BlackBerry and said that he looked forward to working more directly with the talented teams of engineers, and the sales and marketing teams around the world to facilitate the BlackBerry turn-around and to drive innovation, Fox News reports.

The report said that Chen was named CEO earlier this month after plans for the sinking smartphone company's acquisition fell through.

BlackBerry shares fell 0.64 percent to 6.20 dollars in pre-market trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market, extending a slump of nearly 50 percent for the year.

The company has lost its market share owing to tough competition from rivals like Apple, Samsung and Google , who have been successful in churning out innovative products for the mass consumers. (ANI)
