BlackBerry to reportedly offer three tiers of BlackBerry 10 smartphones

BlackBerry to reportedly offer three tiers of BlackBerry 10 smartphonesA recent report in The Canadian Press has, citing the information shared by BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins about the company's plans to take on Apple and Android in the smartphone market, revealed that BlackBerry will be offering three tiers of its devices --- the high-end devices; the mid-range devices; and the entry-level devices.

With BlackBerry having apparently worked out the details about how it intends gaining its lost ground in the smartphone market, Heins' statement that blackberry devices will be offered in three tiers clearly indicates that the company is fully aware of the cut-throat competition in the smartphone arena and it intends tapping as many new markets as possible.

Given the fact that BlackBerry plans to have a diversified smartphone lineup, reports have revealed that the company's entry-level devices - running its new BlackBerry 10 OS - will chiefly be designed for markets like India and Indonesia. These markets helped BlackBerry sustain itself during the excruciating wait for the BlackBerry 10 launch, especially at a time when US subscriber numbers had plunged dramatically.

Noting that "in order to stay relevant, we (BlackBerry) have to build a portfolio," Heins also said that BlackBerry is planning to release some other BlackBerry 10 devices, which are still to be officially coinfirmed by the company.

Nonetheless, a slide from a BlackBerry roadmap presentation - leaked via Twitter over the weekend - shows that BlackBerry will ship three more BlackBerry 10 devices, including a wide-screen tablet dubbed B10; and the U10 and R10 devices which will probably be phablets.
