Mercedes-Benz to launch limited-run EQS City Edition dedicated to Southern California

Stuttgart, Germany-headquartered luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz has announced that a limited-run version of the all-electric EQS luxury sedan will be made available exclusively in the greater Los Angeles region of Southern California. Only 150 units of the limited-run EV, which will officially go by the full name of Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC Sedan City Edition, will be produced and sold, and all those units will be dedicated exclusively to Southern California.

The City Edition will be built upon the features of the already available EQS model range, but it will obviously provide a special package including credits for free home charger, free installation and public charging, in addition to a one-year subscription for an e-scooter (the Unagi Model One Voyager e-scooter that offers a range of up to 25 miles on a single charge). Furthermore, the German automaker will offer a donation for the local community.

Besides the standard two-year unrestricted 30-minute free charging sessions on DC network of Electrify America and free complimentary maintenance for two years, the EQS City Edition will bring a free ChargePoint Home Flex EV charger with a credit for up to one thousand dollars with Qmerit for the installation of the EV charger at the customer’s residence.

The list of offerings also includes enhanced support and the services of an expert who will assist the customer through the process of installation of the charger. Furthermore, a credit of $250 will be added to Mercedes me Charge for public EV charging on the widely available ChargePoint network.

Senol Bayrak, Vice President (VP) of Sales & Product Management for Mercedes-Benz USA, described the special edition EV as the first of its kind vehicle that brings a unique blend of convenience, luxury and enhanced performance for customers who are actively participating in the company’s journey to an all-electric future.

Speaking on the topic, Bayrak said, “This comprehensive bundle offers customers the ability to charge with ease at home and on the road and provides enhanced safety for the local community through key data insights and continued collaboration with regional chapters of Safe Kids Worldwide.”

The EQS City Edition will be offered in two designer curated options. The first option will come finished in Manufaktur Diamond White Metallic paint. This variant will feature Macchiato Beige and Space Grey Leather. The second option will come finished in Twilight Blue Metallic paint with Neva Grey and Sable Brown Leather.

Pricing for the Mercedes-Benz EQS City Edition is yet to be announced but it is easy to guess that it will cost more than an EQS 580 4MATIC Sedan, which starts at $127,100.
