Maxus T90EV all set to go on sale in UK with starting price tag of £49,950

Maxus T90EV
The Maxus T90EV, a fully-electric version of the SAIC Motor-owned Maxus brand’s T90 mid-size pickup, is going on sale in the UK this month with a starting price of £49,950 (roughly $60,000).
The starting price tag of £49,950 excludes VAT. With the addition of 20 per cent VAT, the price of the Maxus T90EV’s base price jumps to £59,940 (approximately $72,375). In China, this EV retails at CNY 299,800 (£35,673 or US$44,994).
In exterior and interior styling, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) all-electric pickup truck looks quite similar to its gas-guzzling ICE-powered sibling. However, it is entirely different in terms of powertrain. Its electric powertrain consists of a rear axle-mounted 150-kilowatt (201-horsepower) electric motor that draws power from an 88.5-kWh battery. The EV is powerful enough to offer a maximum payload capacity of 1,000 kilograms (2,204 pounds) and deliver a WLTP range of 220 miles (roughly 354 kilometers) on a single charge.
The manufacturer’s official website describes the new EV as, “Perfect for both on and off-road driving, the MAXUS T90EV is equipped with a high-level spec and contemporary & stylish interior. With a range of 220 miles and a payload of 1000Kg the visually sporty exterior is complemented by a modern interior with a 10.25-inch digital touch screen instrument cluster providing a minimalist look.”
The battery takes just 45 minutes to get replenished from 20 per cent to 80 per cent, thanks to its peak charging speed of 80 kW.
Even though the electric pickup doesn’t offer all-wheel drive (AWD), the Maxus T90EV has a wading depth of 550 millimeters (21.6 inches) and approach and departure angles of 27 degrees and 24 degrees, respectively, which make it perfect for both on-road and off-road driving.
Towing capacity of the EV has been reported at 1,500 kilograms (3,307 pounds). It is lower than what its regular diesel-powered rivals offer, but it is not bad at all.
In dimensions, the Maxus T90EV is 5,365 millimeters (211.2 inches) in length, 1,900 mm (74.8 inches) in width and 1,809 mm (71.2 inches) in height. The wheelbase of the EV is 3,155 millimeters (124.2 inches). In size, it is thus similar to the Ford Ranger.
Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, backup camera, parking sensors, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, manual air conditioning, and six-way power adjustable front seats. While order books for the Maxus T90EV pickup in the UK are all set to be opened later this month, deliveries to customers will start sometime in the first quarter (Q1) of 2023.
