Audi’s BEV sales jump 330% to 3,911 units in Q3 2022

German luxury automotive giant Audi has announced that it all-electric car sales nearly quadrupled in the United States in the third quarter (Q3) of 2022, thanks to high demand for the brand’s BEVs amid various market challenges.

As per stats shared by the world-renowned luxury car brand, a total of 49,267 Audi-branded cars were sold in the U.S. market during three months ended on 30th of September. The overall sales figure represents a growth of 20 per cent year-over-year. It is worth-mentioning here that this positive result came after four quarters of declines. The year-to-date sales result jumped 18 per cent to settle at 132,821 units.

The most important quarterly growth enjoyed by Audi was in the segment of all-electric cars (BEVs). In the July through September quarter of this year, the luxury brand sold 3,911 BEVs. The figure represents 330 per cent rise from the corresponding quarter of 2021. In terms of share of the total volume, it accounts for 7.9 per cent. 

Currently, Audi’s BEV lineup consists of five all-electric models as the Audi Q4 e-tron/Q4 Sportback e-tron has finally arrived in volume. The brand is expected to enjoy record quarters in the future as well.

Daniel Weissland, President for Audi of America, said, “Our BEV sales through September were our best ever. With the arrival of the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron, we’re thrilled to build on that momentum and bring more customers into premium electric vehicles.”

By model, Audi sales included 1,620 of the e-tron SUV (up 397 per cent), 629 units of the e-tron Sportback (up 420 per cent), 550 units of the e-tron GT – 550 (19 per cent), 1,070 units of the Q4 e-tron SUV (new), and 42 units of the Sportback e-tron (new). In total, the company sold 3,911 units of all-electric vehicles, enjoying quadrupled sales.

Unfortunately, the German automobile giant didn’t provide any details about its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sales for the quarter under review.

So far this year, the company sold nearly 12,000 all-electric cars, up 53 per cent year-over-year.  Year-to-date sales include 6,358 units of the e-tron SUV (up 17 per cent), 2,509 units of the e-tron Sportback – 2,509 (up 33%), 1,961 units of the e-tron GT (up 324%), and 1,057 units of the Q4 e-tron SUV (new).

Total YTD BEV sales jumped 53 per cent to settle at 11,960 units. For reference, the luxury car brand sold 10,985 all-electric cars in the U.S. in twelve months for year 2021.
