All-electric MG4 EV to hit UK roads in September 2022, with starting price tag of £25,995

MG Motor UK Limited, a British automotive company owned by Shanghai-based Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC Motor, has finally announced pricing for the all-new, all-electric sportier-looking MG4 EV hatchback.

Describing the MGA EV as an affordable compact EV without compromise, MG Motor announced that the new family car will hit the UK roads in September this year in three specifications, viz. MG4 EV SE Standard Range, SE Long Range and Trophy Long Range, with pricing started at a little bit lower than £26,000 (roughly $31,945).

The base-model – the MG4 SE Standard Range – will comes with a starting price tag of £25,995 ($31,545). This model has a 51-kWh battery pack that stores enough power to deliver a range (WLTP) of 218 miles (roughly 350 kilometers) on a single full charge. The list of its notable features and tech specs includes the MG Pilot advanced driver assistance system, a 7-inch driver display, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, MG iSmart app connectivity, automatic LED headlights & rear lights, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, automatic climate control system, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

MG Motor UK’s Commercial Director Guy Pigounakis said, “Our first all-electric hatchback will offer unrivalled interior space and practicality, with a level of equipment usually expected from premium and performance EV manufacturers. We believe our new MG4 EV will be an enticing proposition for customers seeking an affordable electric car without compromise.”

The MG4 SE Long Range model will come tagged with a starting price tag of £28,495 ($34,545). The MG4 SE Long Range model has been given the larger 64-kWh battery pack that is capable of delivering a range of 281 miles (452 kilometers) on the WLTP Combined cycle between two charges. Much better than the Standard model’s battery, the 64-kWh battery pack of the Long Range model charges faster at up to 135 kW. In simple words, the Long Range model’s battery takes just 35 minutes to recharge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent of its full capacity, using a 150 kW DC fast charger.

The MG4 EV Trophy – the highest available specification – will set the buyer back by at least £31,495 ($38,170). The range-topping model has the bigger battery but a lower range rating of 270 miles (434 kilometers). Its key specs include an upgraded MG Pilot system loaded with Blind Spot Detection System, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. In addition, it has a two-tone roof, rear privacy glass, twin aero rear spoiler, Bluetooth key, satellite navigation, 360 camera, and leather interior, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, and wireless phone charging. More specifications will be announced closer to the new MG4 EV’s September launch date.
