Cadillac, the GM’s luxury car brand, has announced that it’s very first all-electric vehicle, the Lyriq SUV, will serve as official vehicle for the US Open later this month. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) and Cadillac have signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement, which allows the luxury car brand to display the all-electric Lyriq SUV at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The US Open’s Fan Week is scheduled to start on August 23, 2022; while the main event is slated to start on 29th of August and run through 11th of September.
According to an official press release, Cadillac will also bring a 3,000-square-foot showroom to the US Open to showcase its products. It will also feature the Cadillac ELECTRIQ Theater, which will show the brand’s future plans. It may be noted here that Cadillac is pushing ahead with an ambitious plan to become an electric-only automaker by the end of current decade.
Under the terms of the sponsorship agreement, the luxury brand will also supply a fleet of vehicles for transportation services for more than 250 tennis players at the US Open. Deanne Pownall, Managing Director of Corporate Partnerships for the USTA, said she and her team members are “thrilled” to welcome the luxury car brand as a major sponsor at the event.
Speaking on the topic, Pownall added, “The US Open and Cadillac are a perfect match. The US Open Tennis Championships is the biggest and boldest tennis tournament and will provide Cadillac with a spectacular showcase to demonstrate its bold vision to fans on-site and around the world.”
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV comes equipped with two powerful electric motors that power all the four wheels. Its new Ultium battery pack enables it to cover a distance of more than 312 miles on a single charge. Public or home charger (19.2 kW) can add up to 52 miles of range per hour, while max charging speed (190 kW) promises up to 76 miles in just 10 minutes. As per the manufacturer’s claims, the SUV comes loaded with a high standard of integrated technology. The popularity of the Lyriq SUV can be gauged from the fact that both RWD and AWD variants of the all-electric vehicle are already sold out for 2023. Early orders for the Model Year 2024 are slated to open by the end of this year.
