Assam Administration To Offer Up Free Treatment To Kids With LeukaemiaAssam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made announcement about the launching of a scheme on June 02 under which kids below 12 years of age suffering from Leukemia will be offered cure free of cost.

Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “We are working on a scheme under which free treatment will be provided to children below 12 years who suffer from leukaemia. You all know that this cancer is very common in this part of the country and the treatment of leukaemia is very costly.”

The minister added that the newly announced plan would offer up financial help to the parents of the children suffering form Leukemia.

“We are working on the scheme and if everything goes on as planned, we would be in a position to launch the scheme by Independence Day this year,” Mr. Sarma also said.

The Assam administration will shortly roll out a plan to back up the cost of treatment for leukaemia among kids under 12 years.

Mr. Sarma also stated that the administration had already floated tenders from well-known health institutions crosswise India for establishing a multi-speciality hospital at Amingaon.

The projected medical institution will provide free leukaemia cure to under-12 children.

Moreover, the minister stated that approximately 315 kids suffering from congenital heart problem would be shifted to Bangalore’s Narayana Hrudyalaya in 2012 to receive best treatment by specialists as part of the state administration’s continuing programme.

“The children, all below 14 years of age, will fly in batches along with one of his or her parents from Nov 9 this year to March 30 next year to be treated at Narayana Hrudyalaya in a phased manner,” he said and added that six such kids along with their parents have left for Bangalore on June 02.

The minister also said that the administration is spending about Rs 2 lakh on each kid under the programme that comprises air fare, lodging and medical expenditures.
