Acer shares details on its Iconia W700 Windows 8 tabletWith Hewlett-Packard (HP) having announced business-centric ElitePad 900 tablet three days back, Acer has now officially introduced its Iconia W700 --- the company's new flagship tablet based on Windows 8 Pro and equipped with Intel's Ivy Bridge processor.

Sharing all the details on the forthcoming Iconia W700, Acer has revealed that the tablet will boast an 11.6-inch 1080p IPS screen; a Core i3 or a more powerful Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor; 64GB or 128GB storage capacity; a 5-megapixel back camera with auto-focus capability; and a 2-megapixel front camera.

In addition, the Acer Iconia W700 tablet will also include 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi; accelerometer; an E-compass; and a number of sensors for map applications. The tablet will also have an accessory dock which can hold it in portrait mode at 70° for reading or at 20° for an angled touchscreen.

While Acer also disclosed that the Iconia W700 will feature three USB 3.0 ports, micro HDMI port, a Thunderbolt port, headphone output jack, and DC power jack, the company has not revealed the details about the among of RAM as well as the presence - or otherwise - of a GPS chip.

The Iconia W700 will hit the markets on October 26, which happens to be the scheduled release date for Microsoft's Windows 8 OS. While the retail cost of the tablet will range from between $800 to $1,000for different hardware configurations; the cost of the device - along with an extended two year warranty and Windows 8 Pro - will be for $1,050 for Acer corporate users.
