WiMax will drive broadband growth in India, says Intel

India Wimax

World’s largest chip-maker Intel is seeing a massive broadband growth in India. As per Intel the wireless technologies like WiMax will lead the Indian broadband sector to a new high. India is aiming to have 100 million broadband users by the year 2014.

According to Intel, WiMax technology will be a driving force in the broadband industry and it will help the county to achieve the goal. By the end of February 2010, the total number of broadband users was 8.59 million all across the country.

Intel managing director, Lil Mohan has said that the copper line infrastructure is limited and it can’t fulfill the larger demand ahead. Hence wireless is the best and economical option for India to expand the broadband network in the country.

The wireless demand of the country can be fulfilled by the wireless technology like Wimax or worldwide interoperability for microwave access. The technology will basically provide high-speed access to the Internet with much faster data downloads. Intel also produces chops on WiMAX platform and works with equipment vendors to deploy the latest technology.
