Warm Ocean Blob moving to Puget Sound
Scientists are quite concerned as there is a high possibility that the warm ocean blob is moving to Puget Sound. In 2013, a warm blob was found on the Pacific Ocean, which heated the waters around it by nearly seven degrees.
The blob is having red color and can be easily detected on weather maps. For past two years, the blob has been moving between Alaska and Mexico. It has been held liable for warming waters unnaturally and causing a lot of environmental damage.
A lot of things have couple now including unusually high temperatures, extreme levels of dryness and the blob. All of them when combines have increased water temperatures in the area by four degrees in some areas.
If you think this is the end, no it's not as El Niño effect is yet to be witnessed. As per scientists, El Niño is developing and will soon hit the areas. Researchers have termed the situation to become quite complex for the canal system and for the ecosystem of Washington. There are also chances that these situations may lead to strange weather system in Seattle.
Not only surface water, but the deep sea temperatures are also increasing due to constant warming. The situation leads to oxygen-deprived water causing massive die-offs of sea-dwelling creatures. The situation has also led to rise in multiple types of toxic algae. A rise in salmon washing up on shores has been witnessed.
