Petraeus being considered for CIA top job: ReportWashington, Apr 05: The US commander in Afghanistan, General David H. Petraeus, is reportedly being `seriously considered' for the job of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director.

According to National Public Radio, Petraeus, who plans to leave that post later this year, `would take the job if offered'.

Current CIA director Leon Panetta is likely to replace Defence Secretary Robert Gates, who plans to step down this year.

White House and Pentagon officials say they will not comment on any personnel changes.

US President Obama had nominated Petraeus to succeed General Stanley A. McChrystal as the Commander of U. S. Forces in Afghanistan in June 2010. (ANI)
