The Jonas Brothers released their third album “A Little Bit Longer” (Hollywood) on Thursday. Based on predictions being made from the first day of sales, it’s expected to have the third biggest opening week of the year.
The sales of “Longer” through the close of business yesterday (Aug. 12) was poised at 201,000 and is expected to be in the 675,000 to 725,000 range when final results are reported a week from now.

L’Oreal clarified on Thursday that it did not lighten Beyonce Knowles’ skin tone in a recent ad contrary to speculation.

On Thursday evening, two people were arrested on drugs charges after US rapper Snoop Dogg's tour bus was searched by Texas police. The incident happened just hours before the rapper was set to perform at Dallas' Superpages.com Center. Snoop is currently on tour with 311.
Initially the police in Dallas stopped the tour bus carrying rapper Snoop Dogg because of the vehicle's expired registration tags. But after cops got into the bus, they came out with two men, who were taken into custody and arrested on drug charges.
This year the nonfiction films like Edward S. Curtis’ “In the Land of the Head Hunters” (1914) and Nanette Burstein’s “American Teen” (2008) seemed to challenge the conventional definition of a documentary in the Seattle International Film Festival.
Though one might feel that the Curtis film is more “authentic” while Burstein’s account of modern high-school rituals seems a little slick, “American Teens” has revealing moments with such an authentic feel that the movie can generate an odd sense of nostalgia.
