Angelina Jolie was more
than successful to impress the audience through her performance in the recent ‘Wanted.’ The action thriller ‘Wanted’ scored the best opening ever for an R-rated film released in June and the 6th best opening of all time for any R-rated pic. The movie also co-starred James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman.
Wanted soared beyond expectations, pulling in a whopping $51.1 million.
The film, which scored second place domestically to Pixar’s G-rated “Wall-E” this weekend, also broke records in the United Kingdom, where it became the 3rd highest grossing “18 rated” film debut behind “Hannibal” and last year’s “Sweeney Todd.”
The movie also set box office records for highest grossing restricted-rating film in Russia, taking in $11 million, as well as South Korea, where the action film took in just under $7 million.
Angelina plays the character of an assassin named Fox in the employ of a secret society in the movie. Last year, Angelina had shined in her performance in ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ opposite Brad Pitt.
The movie is expected to continue its formidable run next weekend when “Wanted” goes head-to-head with box office wonderboy Will Smith’s superhero flick “Hancock”.
